Thank you for the comment Doyle,
This is part of an on going project of mine, where I am trying to find new and exciting views of the landmarks in this highly photographed town. I am glad that so many people, including yourself, have enjoyed this image.
I have deliberatly desaturated the colours to help bring out the stonework and to try and move away from my usual, highly saturated, style, and I see from what you have said that it was the correct decision. This was the first shot at that POV rotation and I had barely decided to try a shot there when the birds took off, leaving only a fraction of a second for composing the shot, so it was not quite how I would have liked it to be, but the presence of the flying birds helped to add a vital element of scale that made me choose this shot for posting on UF over the others of that day.
As for fitting the entire structure in frame, I have also been recommended wide aperture ~12mm lenses, but these are way outside my budget, and so I worked on a quick photomerge which gives the impression of a fisheye lens but is still clearly a construction from seperate photographs, though it needs more work before I can post it here.
Thanks again, "splendid" is certainly a description I can live with for this image :)

No, you know what this needs - a pipe! That would just round it off perfectly ;)
Honestly though, it is a nice photo, and has life. Hope you picked this one guys!

Lovely picture, pin sharp. Shame his left hand is cut off, but that is insignificant. The colour tone is brilliant and the relaxed subject make up for that.

I like the two heads looking in different directions, that is what drew my eye to this photo. It is well exposed also.

Apophysis is great, one of my friends put me onto it. Here is my first (quite successful) attempt.
Also, have you tried Terragen? It allows you to create landscape images with surreal or random components. It's free from the developers and well worth a look also :)

What a corn-ey picture...geddit? Oh dear, that was the most obvious joke. I am surprise no-one else posted it. Perhaps I am wittier than I thought. Perhaps not though.

I love the title for this, completely accurate, really cheered me up. People should be more to the point. On that note; I feel this would benefit from a tighter crop on the metal, or a crop to take the subject off centre.

Oh, I feel sorry for them with that title. Nicely exposed image though, with good highlights and depth to the shadows. It might be nice to see a square crop of this to focus only on the "uglies" and remove the small regions of basket and plastic bag.

A nice portrait this, the background and lighting are great, giving a forties Hollywood feel to it. My complaints with the image would perhaps be the white thing in her hand and the distracting strands of hair, though these are minor problems. I do like the pose and the way it doesn't distort her face also.

Very graphic image, I could imagine this as a movie poster with writing in the large dark areas. I like the "railroad" of lines leading you into the figure and the large bright doorway.

A good passionate capture. I like the tight crop and vertical panoramic style that brings you into the scene. I like how the highlights are burnt out, especially on the womans face, as this adds to the intensity of emotion in the image. Magnificent, the sort I wish I could take :)

I love the colours, the feeling of motion and the variety of poses you have in this picture. The blur you added really enhances what looks like a lively picture. My only criticism would be the water effect under the dancers, it is to clear and does not fit into the picture.
I like the theatrical nature of your portfolio as well. Some nice work there. :)

I like this shot, however if you want feedback, the blurred objects on the left side and the large empty white area below them detract from the model a little. It does give her a context though, as she would otherwise be floating there. Well framed though and the warm brown tone of the image gives a nice look. Her stance and dress help the blur stand out more also.

Beutiful shot, well light and the angle is spot on. My only (minor) complaint is the red spot on the pavement, which detracts from the red hat. Wish I had taken it though.

Karina is right, you have an eye for simplicity, but you also add the human element which makes your images stand out from standard abstracts.
Also, this is inspiring me to go for my idea of photographing street sweepers at work. You have shown me it can work and look very beautiful, thanks very much.

Very nice image. I dont know what the building is but all the stars are interesting to look at. I do find the darker corners of the building distracting and might have cropped them out myself. I like the man walking away also, as he adds an underlying story, and a bit of mystery as we do not what his story is. The contrast between bridge and building is good with the different tones and I think this is why it is eye catching.

Difficult to get the shot you are after with this building. You've caught some nice light. I have so many that don't come up to scratch. One day I'll nail it.
BTW hope you went and got some of Peppos' chips to go with your smokie, they are the best in town.

Interesting clouds, they add to the industrial feel by their regular "grid iron" pattern. The wide lens also highlights the length of this bridge.

Great idea but focus is half a metre to high, should be on the eyes. Colours are well balanced and quite dark with the face slightly burnt out. Makes the image grittier.

Great idea to distort the lines, stops them looking like they're falling over and adds energy to the scene. Reminiscent of the iconic B&W photos of NYC in the 40's and 50's.
Keep them coming, Ian.
