Your point is well taken. One of my early influences (1970+/-}was Pete Turner who did a great job with vibrant color. A 16x24 print of this image almost jumps off the page. It is what one one might call "super aggressive". It was an expirment with a program (Photomatrix 3) and I like it.

You caught this one just right. My preference would be to make a crop onn the left to get rid of trees. This would provide more central interest (focal point). Otherwise just great!
