David, Very nice pose you caught and the toning is great. I do believe I'd prefer a tighter crop at the top, but either way the photo is very nice and shows a peaceful and happy moment between the two. The composition shows off her neckline (in this case a good thing) and hair (she probably took some time with it and will be glad to have a capture), and the delicate look of the jewelry enhances the pic somehow. You do good work. Anne

I love your work and the tones and quality of light and the artistic flair. I also like the placement of the lines in the composition. My one critique would be that this woman looks less truly depressed than posed as depressed. Just my two cents.

Ian,
Interesting effect and composition. Did you use Kodak Ektachrome Professional Infrared EIR Film? I am not sure if any other color infrared films exist? I have never seen any color infrared shots and am interested to know the differences between it and regular film/regular infrared.
Thanks, Anne

Ahh...nice. The way she is posed and the way you chose to compose this with her higher in the frame have the effect of making me start to curl into this position without realizing it. I like how she is on the edge of the bed so that you can see the crease in the mattress and the hair hanging off...it has the effect of putting me in that position in my head and feeling that sinking-in and head-hanging-off feeling of the pose. I like it!

I like this one. I like the pose and strand of hair and the woodgrain adds some texture. Since this is for photo critique: The only thing that bothers me a little is her placement in the frame. I think it might be a stronger composition if she were further left in the frame. Her expression is bored, and having more space on the right might enhance that feeling...as if she is looking into a big area of blankness, which is often what boredom feels like. Just a thought. The choice of black and white I think is a good one for this shot as it compliments her expression. Post some more!

Wow. Such an emotional moment to capture and you used your photographic skill and the light and dark to bring the grief closer to us. Extremely wonderful, Kristupa. I can't help but have a moment of silence for this man and for private moments of deep sadness that so many of us have when we think no one is watching. This is the kind of photo that impacts on a large scale because so many can relate to it. Thanks.

I like it and think the hotness is probably just right on a print (as opposed to a glaring computer screen.) It is very zennish. I find myself wanting to pluck up that little leaf on the left. Hereby ends my less than professional critique. Oh, and one more thing...I also like the crop...

Eric...hmmm. I like it cropped perhaps with just the tiniest bit more off the top and give back just a bit more on her left (our right). OK...free association er somethin...I had a wacky image of this one split straight down the center with one half of her face in color version and one half in black and white. I am weird that way. I like the texture you captured in her hair. I also see this as a fine bookmark. Or on some stationary for her...she just has that look on her face like she just told a secret or is about to....hmmm

The scan looks much better than in the past. The technical side is also improved, in my opinion. My eyes keep going to the hand of the girl on the right which is sort of overpowering the girl on the left. Maybe the arm around the other girl would've worked better? Not sure.

I think you are good with making people feel comfortable, which is essential for successful modeling sessions, in my opinion. So many people are made to feel uncomfortable by the photographer and it shows in the pics. Yours show that the subjects can be themselves around you and aren't put off by the camera. That is a great thing! Let's see...I don't mind the hands so much, but I think I would like her arm/elbow in the frame...maybe one step back? In all, good pic. Her face is just slightly blurry, if that is the right word, but I really think that effect may be the processing you use. You should try professional processing sometime for a roll, maybe, just to see ...just a suggestion...you may be surprised at the difference.
