Absolutely brilliant. Saying anything more would do little to add to the sheer light of this image. As good as anything I've seen from the likes of Frank, Brandt or any others you would care to name. Congratulations on a phenomenal piece of work.

Very nice perspective indeed. I'm with Jeff about the sky but its still a rock-solid image. Nice piece of work with a lot depth and three dimensionality to it.

Nice one. The colors and the light playing off the halfpipe give this image a lot of depth. Good timing with the shutter as well. You caught him in the perfect position.

Wow. I know that's a lame opener but its the only word that works. I think Grant's points are dead correct. I feel myself preparing to get clobbered by the wave as I view it. That's a big key not only to surf photography but any great sports photography: to feel a part of the event. This kind of work is the kind of caliber that you see in Sports Illustrated, which to me is a greatly underappreciated journal of photography as much as it is of sports reportage. This is excellent stuff, Sean. Keep hangin' ten. Is that the right saying? Us midwestern hayseeds have a tough time with surf culture. Great work pal.

Nice one. Great work freezing the motion of the wave. Though frozen, you caught the intense power and force of the wave with a lovely placement of the tube in the frame. Very nice colors with the blues and the greens in the water. Looks like you were staying in paradise. Lucky bastard... Don't you have any pity for us poor slobs you left behind to freeze their asses off in Chicago?

A touch of Atget, combined with the haunting flavor of John Thomson's street imagery of the 1870s and 1880s, well except for the dress the woman is wearing of course. I think you managed the exposure problems here very well. Its quite a fine image if you ask me.

Overall, a beautifully rendered image. The deep shadows are a bit blocky but that, I think, is easily fixed through some selective dodging or careful tweaking of the curves. I like the balance of the composition a lot.

Ron, an awesome image indeed. I love how the viewer is challenged to discern the kids in that wonderful sea of tones created by the butterflies. It has a wonderfully dreamy atmosphere. A very complex but very pleasing image. Nice one.

David is quite right. The use of B/W was the only way to go here. The tones make the composition work very well here. They particularly make the road stand out, causing the eye to be drawn naturally up through the whole frame. Excellent work.

Excellent work. The big expanse of sky is great touch. Turns this into an unconventional dog shot, which is why it works so well. You caught them at just the right moment too. This is a gem.

Good man. Way to go using the wide-angle. Makes the lines of the images really strong and dynamic. This is outstanding stuff. I'd tweak the shadows a little but other than that its good as it is. Excellent work.

Nice texture study Stephen. I also like that you kept the colors strong but moderated. No need for a psychedelic assault on the viewer's senses. I also like how you played with the DOF to get the blur through the length of the railing. Very nicely done. Good to read your words, by the way. Hope all is well. Perhaps we can all gather for Christmas beverage in the next several weeks.

As I think you know, the color version of this is one my absolute favorites in the James portfolio. However, I think I now have a new favorite. This is fantastic. What appealed to me in the color version was the play of the light on the cook's head. The B/W version helps to enhance the play of the light. Its an excellent conversion of an excellent photo. Well done.

Wow is that a gorgeous picture. Its got lovely tones and a very nice feel to it. It feels like late autumn should: cold and bleak. I'd perhaps lighten the top portion of sky just a tiny bit to get a bit cleaner separation of the top of the tree from the sky. Aside from that minor point (which is of limited value) I think its excellent. Well done.

I very much enjoy the series of images you've done with this model Zosia. Its wonderful work. I think as a whole the series seems to be as much an exploration of your emotional responses to the model as it is an exploration of the model herself, which is why I like the series so much. Great work.

Lovely work Mary Sue. There's a wonderful layered effect to the composition that I really like. The colors are strong but not overwhelming and everything is placed perfectly within the frame. The use of objects in the foreground and the boat in the distance adds a little compositional tension to the image to keep it from stagnating and getting boring. A very nice image.

Great perspective and fantastic light! This is a killer shot, David, that's got a wonderful film noir quality to it. Love that you took it with the camera you did. Damn, those old screw mount Leicas can still shoot with the best of today's cameras. Well done.

Gorgeous work Al. The DOF is particularly nice allowing the bokeh in the foreground and the background to focus attention on the lovely details of the branches. Absolutely breathtaking tonal range as well with great luminosity. Is this a scan of a wet print? Regardless of it being a wet print or not, its great work. Well done.
