a well composed black and white...one question...did you add some texture to it?...I know you are mostly a purist here, but I detect something almost canvas like...could be the compression BUT my point is that a slight bit of texture (even if only in my eyes) takes this up a notch...might think about it for printing...an excellent layering effect as well

dramatic sky and a well composed shot make this a very good image...the almost black and white with slight color adds even more interest to the image...but what I love most is the contrast between the crowd on the pier and the lone couple...I opt for the lone couple as the seem to be enjoying the moment and your title is so perfect for this...excellent

you may practice all you like John...the ears are a bit too sharp for the upload, but I wish you could see the print, perfect IMO...13 x 19, full frame...a favorite of mine!...However, you've given me an idea for a different version with a different pose...maybe I'll play a bit more...

I have this lens and I love it...what I want to know is about the extension tube...with the flower so close, what is the reason for using the tube?

BTW...this is an outstanding example of light and detail...beautiful colors...I learn alot from looking through your images...again...beautiful

excellent presentation ad as I said it is your keen eye that saw this and probably it was then that the seed for presentation was planted...it has that silky smooth finish to it that is so much like a high gloss image...beautiful again

Well your equipment may be different, but your eye remains the key to your beautiful images...this is simply stunning...an excellent composition with beautiful color and light, it is the contrast between the more granular foreground and the smooth midground that makes this work so well...your work is impressive Jim...must see what else of yours I have missed...

Thanks Jim...now with the Bay Area at my backdoor you'd think I could get out of the yard once in awhile
I have printed this @ 13 x 19 in both the warmer and the black and white...my problem with the black and white is that I lose some of the detail in the darker areas...but I think that is because I am printing with only one black and the grays really don't show as well...I am experimenting with both versions on different paper too...I think eventually I need a printer with more than one black...nice to know you are hanging around too...

I think you projected lonliness quite well here...a good composition and good detail...seems that there might have been overcast skies which add to the mood

Someone is quite adept at sculpting...good light and color make this image work...my only nit is the fencing in the background; only a small distraction...you managed good exposure with good detail in the shadows...excellent

you have some unique work in your portfolio...good composition on this
one...was wondering if this is the natural
color? Might be intersting in black and white
too..

It has been a while and I see you have a new camera...still finding some beautiful images from around the world to show us "Poetry in Pictures" seems like the perfect project for this...excellent as always

very nice dedication image and most appropriate to use a "Peace Lily"

good clarity and excellent dof...I hadn't thought of noise or dust as I know these flowers and their habit of covering the petal with pollen...excellent composition

you have an excellent portfolio full of images like this...found/street art...they make wonderful images...this one in particular is colored not only by the paint, but the rust as well...composition/framing is excellent

Hi Don...great shot of the Goldenrod...frame adds interest, but I think you might consider a softer edge rather than a hard edge...say feather your oval 20 - 50 pixels and have it blend into the frame rather than such an abrupt departure...I think your background colors are right in line however...an excellent compliment of colors to the beautiful yellow

excellent perspective and color, great composition...the lights on the bridge form an excellent reverse silhouette and the the city lights are beautifull reflected in the water...excellent

it seems it is always the boys that get those beautiful long lashes...another great candid moment captured, though here he seems just a bit more reserved

this is a nicely composed image and the black and white works well...good tones and light and nicely detailed...if I were to change one thing, it might be the angle...placing the camera just a bit more to the left places all 3 in a bit more open area allowing the linear aspects (poles and trees) to frame more...great expressions on all 3

this is an excellent composition with very natural colors and clearly the focus is on the snail...I like this a lot...however, for my taste, I think the vingetting distracts from the image...again, a great composition

something I have never tried...I love the spotlight effect, but would like to see it less bright as you do lose some detail...good composition and color...

nice and sharp with good light on the bottom leaf...composition and colors are good, detail in your primary leaf is well seen...the only area of improvement would be if the light area behind the upper leaf were darkened...all in all an excellent image

this has a lot of elements that make it work...bright colors to attract a viewer, good composition with a good perspective and a couple of good expressions that look like they'd like you to interact with them...excellent clarity and detail...the only thing that could make it a bit better is to bring your other passengers out of the shadows...excellent image

and many thanks for always commenting on mine
