Carlos,

The difference is pretty big... the most obvious thing is that the fish eye really starts to distort your horizons. Straight lines at the edge of the frame begin to curve the further out they are.

The other is that the field of view is much larger the 18mm gives me somewhere around 100 degrees...
the 15mm gives me 180...

Keep in mind that this is with a full 35mm SLR... on my DLSR I get less than that.

Peace,
Toby

Rodger,

I'm really enjoying these panoramic fisheye photos... what are you using to stich them together.

Rodger,

Thanks a bunch for looking! Yeah.. I've been getting some really odd stuff lately. Not sure why. My lighting techniques lends alot of (forgive me for saying this) "unknowledgeable photogs" to believe that I'm just really good at photoshop. The truth is that I'm work hard to get my flashes synced up and powered up just right and in the right places to make things look dynamic and "pop". If you like what I'm doing... check out the community at www.agroism.com. There is a whole army of guys doing (somewhat) the same thing. Some better than others, but there is a whole action sports movement.

Cheers,
Toby

Dave,

I'm not sure that your cropping in some of these images really enhance whats going on. Perhaps there are elements that you like that I'm not sure about. The necklace in the rearview mirror looks longer with the crop though...

The photo looks flat too. It's hard to get good contrast here with the the sun and clouds in the winsheild.

Dave,

I like this photo alot... I think a series would be really neat... Just shoot some photos of the inside of the man van every once in a while. People or no people, dirty or clean... The Man Van is always unique. I don't think I've ever been for a ride and had the interior ever look the same. Everything but the paneling changes.

Dave,

Thanks man... I appreciate the input. Overuse the saturation. I will agree that I due boost it a tad... 10 points max at any time. I'll tink about that a little more from here on out.

I guess what really gets me about this photo is the trick itself. I'm not sure the timing is right or that the "style" is spot on. Its a hard trick on a steep bank, but I'm not sure that comes through.

I also think that I blew out the highlights a little here. I've been having trouble with one of my flashes and its been hard to get things just so.

I'll take some time to give you my input as well.

Thanks Dave.

Peace!

Davide,

Thanks! I've received some really scarcastic/cynical comments lately. Wasn't sure where you were going with things.

Thanks for clarifying!

Best Regards,
Tobiah

David,

Not sure what you're trying to get at here. Yes, the sign said no tresspassing, but do you not like the photo? Do you not like the exposure or the lighting or the composition? Or do you just not like the fact that we're being hooligans here? I just framed in the sign becuase I found it ironic and a good juxtaposition.

Thanks for looking.

I hope that you've got a stock pile on good karma!

Wayne,

This just kinda worked out like this. I'm not sure how or why to tell you the truth. I had two flashes running, and its not like the light of the flash just stops dead in its tracks... I think it may have to do with the shutter curtain. maybe just happened to be a tad slow on this one.... who knows.

Karina,

Thanks for looking. I think that the out of focus foreground makes it feel more photo-journalistic... like I'm peaking out from or walking up on this situation.

This photos is one of my favorites.

Toby

Doyle,

Thanks a bunch for the comment.

I really enjoy the quality of this image with fence in the foreground. I've had mixed reactions however.

You can see this photo and many more in the most recent issue (#12) of STUCK Magazine (www.stuckmag.com).

Terry,

Sorry man... I can only get my hands on it every once in a while.

Perhaps sometime down the road I can afford one of my own. As for now I get a loaner from a local camera shop for free, so I can't complain too much.

Thanks for looking.

I think I like the other better... I think that it adds some dimension to the image not having to crop the bottom of this photo. Thanks for your work though... makes my job easier later!

Hugo,

I think you're probably right in this case. The photo at hand would probably not be used in any kind forum where it would really matter anyway (i.e. websites). I will probably use the cropped version in the future. Thanks a bunch for the ideas. Come back and look when I post the next one!

Hugo,

I like what you've done here! I think my first instict as a photographer is to just (sigh) discard this as a missed opportunity because it does need to be cropped. As is every photographer, I'm always looking to use the full frame. But upon second look and with your example, this doesn't look too bad. Perhaps it will/can work?!

Cheers,
Toby

Hugo,

I'm interested to see how much you'd crop out. Would you try to make this image square? Maybe an example for me...

Fabio,

I was trying to keep the flash flair out of the photo entirely. I kinda screwed that up hence the oops. I think your right though... it does give it an unusual quality that is quite unique.

Fabio,

Thanks for looking... I don't think that cropping out that shadow would make this photo that much better. Given that there is severe flash flare comming from the left side as well, the whole left side is kind of messed up. OOps.

Michi,

Thanks for the look...

Why so late? ummm... I don't know. I just liked the way that this one looked. Stuff gets kinda boring when you shot it the same everytime. I liked how he was set up on his board, looking at the landing, arms spread. The earlier shots make him smaller with the fisheye (pseudo) and aren't quite so dramatic.

I guess I just really liked this one. I'm not sure that its really mag quality, but its one of my favorites for some reason.

Michi,

I like the capture here. Nice stop motion. But the comp again seems realy boring.

It looks like it was a sunny day. The sky blues and all the green vegitation would have made for a crazy fisheye photo from down low. If you get lots of banches in and light him up well, his jeans will go with the sky, but his white shirt will pop and make him really visable.

Just more thoughts...

Michi,

I like the idea here, but I think that the sculpture on the left hand side is a bit over kill. A different angle would make this so much better. I can't see his face and that makes it kind of odd. maybe that angle from low up the stairs looking down would have been good. Or around the corner looking up. Long lens straight on... Love the trick though.

Michi,

I'm not digging the color or the exposure here. Flash placement seems something to be desired. I do like the angle. I think its about perfect for this trick.
