Hi, Ray. As there are 14 Ray Whytes and only one Roger David Williams, why don't you search for me and suggest I become a Facebook "Friend" rather than the other way around? There ARE photos of most of the Ray Whytes, but I couldn't decide which of the old fogeys was you [grin].

Hmmmm. When you DO get around to taking colour photos, you pull out all the stops! For my taste you've got the saturation spot on. Vivid, but unforced and not in the least unnatural. Of course the very full palette of colours in the scene itself helps. No need to exaggerate those! I would probably have straightened up those leaning trees, but I guess that would have affected the framing, which is perfect as it is.

You certainly picked a really good spot from which to take this one. Beautiful! Another example of mastery of the wide-angle lens. There's an almost stereoscopic sense of perspective.

Another great example of how to use a really wide-angle lens. If you got the lighting and exposure right without having to do a lot of PS work, hats off to you! Great atmosphere.

Still getting good use out of that 10-20mm Sigma! This is a very imaginative use, and comes off pretty well. It'll be great if someone gives you the finger...

I am delighted to return to Usefilm after some time and see among my "friends" photographs this wonderful portrait. It says so much by leaving it to our imaginations to fill in the details! The exposure is absolutely perfect!

A gorgeous pink and blue palette of colours here, Janina. I imagined the Baltic as more grim and grey... I think you are showing it at its best.

Thank you, Janina. This is a very unusual "sculpture" for Japan, where public art often reflects the tastes of anonymous committees and tends to be safe and a little boring!

Hi, Matt. When you selected me as a "friend" I searched for your portfolio by name but it came up blank. Later, I found out this must have been a search glitch. You haven't posted anything since 2003... are you still around? This photo has a very nice atmosphere although I wonder who the legs on the left belong to... [grin]

Nice against-the-light shot. Did you take one in vertical (portrait) orientation? That might have captured more of the trees, and reduced the "weight" of the empty foreground while keeping enough of it to retain the sense of perspective it gives...

Very nicely judged... the distant wave frozen but the froth smoothed out to make the perfect foil to those dark, shiny rocks. I wonder how many exposures you had to make before this exceptional one resulted? Love it! And hats off to your skill in taking it. Wow...

Isn't this very daring, Galal? It's certainly a very strong (and emotional) photo. Perhaps Egypt is a little more liberal than certain other mid-Eastern states?

Beautiful, Keith. Takes me back 50 years to when I lived in Jarrow... and strolled the Northumberland beaches every chance I could get. I wasn't often there at dawn, but the sunsets were pretty good, too...

Very fine panorama, Keith. If I'm ever in Blyth again I'm going to try and take one like it! If you stitch multiple shots to make your panoramas you can appear once in every shot. That's pretty surreal...

I guess the fuzziness of the grasses in the middle distance is due to wind? I think the splayed verticals undermine the effect a bit... But maybe I spend too much time getting rid of them (hard to avoid down at the 10mm end of the zoom). I do like the light fall-off around the edges.

It IS? But, but, but... there are definite reds in her shorts. If you produced the sepia by turning down the saturation on a colour shot, you didn't turn it all the way down, maybe? Anyway, this is splitting hairs. It's a lovely, haunting image, with great structure and lighting and a lovely atmosphere. So there! [grin]

Yes, Saad, it means that there are fewer straight lines and thus less obvious distortion than in city streets, for example... Thank you as always for your comments.
