Hi Andrej, sounds like this plant has some strange names.
Its Latin name is I believe Sempervivum. I have a large pot of these in my garden. Ths shot was taken from above the pot at f/3.5 not f/7.0 as it gives above. In the middle ages they were put on the roofs of buildings to ward off lightning and witchcraft. I'm not sure how well they worked. :-)
We can certainly keep in touch in the future.
Regards,
Graham.

Thanks Jimmy glad you like it. Think I just sort of drifted away from this site to another in Australia. I was after constructive criticism which I didn't seem to get much of here. Anyway I'm back.
The flag threw me for a while as my details were still correct. I found out eventually that the US flag is the default if a flag is not selected. There were no flags when I was here last so I hadn't selected one.

Been there myself Chris but at least the equipment is cheaper your side of the pond. Maybe starve yourself just a little for that Canon 1D mk II :-)

Good dynamic image with good colour and composition. maybe a slightly slower shutter spped would have softened the water a little more.
don't muddle through get the best gear you can afford now, you'll only regret it if you don't in the future.

Graham.

A lovely image with good composition and colour. maybe a slight crop off the foreground might focus the image a little more. make more of a panorama.

Graham.

Hi Andrej,
no I'm not regular here anymore. Most of my effort goes into pay sites where I'm making some money selling images. Doesn't cover the cost of my equipment yet but I'm hopeful for the future.
1 eV is one exposure value, a doubling of light into the image. This is +1 on the compensation on your Canon 350D. I've missed my real friends here (yourself included)plus the brilliant shots of a few people. Keep in touch.
Regards,
Graham.

Best of luck Jimmy, sorry to see you go. We seem to have so much in common. Hope you keep taking the pictures.

Graham.
PS if you want some near to the bone pictures just put up the images.

lovely vibrant image Mari almost like fireworks. I know that flowers are your first love (mine too) for pictures, but your portfolio has expanded greatly. I'm sorry to have been away so long but this site is too bland, everyone loves everyones pictures. Still I'm back for a while and I'll try and shake up the site a bit.
Regards,
Graham.

Hi Andrej,
I'm amazed your still here on this site. Thought I'd put one up to see what happened. Just a number of bland remarks about what I'd expected. This site has not been the same since the major change about a year ago.
Your mountain shots are still good but I thought you'd gone digital befoe I left. I like this shot the snow and aerials work well with the guy rope taking the eye into the image. Couple of minor problems, the snow is a little grey, +1eV on the compensation would have cured this. The auto-exposure adjusts for 18% grey so an increase in eV is necessary. The path on the left leads the eye out of the image but seems to come back further on. Maybe moving a bit to the left would have cured the problem.
Regards,
Graham.

Hi Den,
the cyclist was gone before I realised what had happened. I was looking away talking to someone or I could have caught the tripod.
I never seem to claim on my contents insurance so I don't have accidental damage just standard cover. This has worked out a lot cheaper over the years as accidental damage doubles the cost of the policy. I'll just have to bite the bullet on this one. I'll take out seperate cover on my policy for my next camera.
Little advice when using a tripod always keep the neckstrap of the camera around your neck.LOL
Regards,
Graham.

Hello Andrej thanks for the comments. This type of shot tends to be static at 15 secs exposure. Any movement unless very slow is not captured. There is another photographer in the image under the light. He was a real pain for getting in the way.
Regards,
Graham.

Thanks for the comments Den. This was 15secs with a tripod and using the 2 sec delay on the camera.
Just after I took the shot a cyclist knocked over the tripod. The camera's a write off. £600 down the drain after 12 months use.
Regards,
Graham.

Good capture Melisa with lovely colour and texture on the pup. The angled shot gives good composition but it would have looked much better with all the dog. Paw and back leg. Give his ear a rub from me.

Graham.
