Don, nice photo, but you got to get your grandson to get his right hand to the side or behind him so he doesn't get hurt if he misses a ball! It's a good photo, but there are a lot of distractions and I personally think this photo might look better in B&W? Best Regards! Dan

Gymnastics is tough! f/2.8 lenses are also tough to work with in most of the gyms - at least until you get to college where there's typically more light. I shoot mostly with a f/1.2 85mm lens and typically only pull out the 2.8 when the lighting is really good. It's my favorite sport to shoot and I hope you enjoy the challenge! Best regards, Dan

Carlheinz, Thanks for your comment. In regards to activation time, it depends on teh camera. When I started shooting with a Canon 10D, I'd say no, but once I started using the 1D and 1D Mark II - ABSOLUTELY.
