Thanks for your comments Green Gemini.
I actually took the shot as is. By this I mean my dog is often on the bed so the scene is not set up in any way. I rested the SLR on the bed to get an eye level view and inadvertently missed the leg. I will give the Black and White a go.

Nice to hear from you. I have been off the scene for some time.
Cheers. Tom.

Nicely done Ed.
I like the composition, tone and balance of the work. It leaves me with an impression of Dali in the surreal nature of the work. The overall image although inanimate appears organic and developing.
Cheers, Tom from Australia.

Dear Lacy,
One of the things that any student attempts to achieve is creativity and a desire for a level of individuality. This shot was carefully prepared no differently than Annie Libowitz, when she did her portrait of Keith Hare or Demi Moore pregnant, nude with body paint that appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair. I suppose you may think that is also disgusting. As her teacher I am proud of all the trouble this student took to take this shot and suggest you consider the merits and perhaps even the traditions our artworld is founded on. Perhaps Botticelli's Venus ia also disgusting!

It is a worry that you make those sort of remarks and the state of your mind. This was a difficult exercise in photoshop and the student did a remarkable job to so convincingly place the figures behind the bars.

Nice shot Kinny. I teach Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier and multimedia including web design. to get the border, place the image in photoshop and in the select menu, select all. Go to the edit menu and scroll down to stroke, left click the mouse. In the pixel box place 6,but make sure the foreground colour is black. When completed return to the select menu and scroll to deselect and save, or save as.

Thanks Jack. I appreciate your input. The photograph was taken at night and the ray is a street light. The background was selected and a Gaussian Blur applied in photoshop.

A very poetic demonstration of composition, line, tone and balance. It looks very much like a mediterranean keyboard with muted tonings. The negative space behind the stairs really engages the viewer to a Baroque dramatic diagonal structure. Well done Paul.

As one of your famous comedians once said " How sweet it is". Must show my age because I loved Jackie Gleeson in the Honeymooners. I love the fabric of the chair and the black and white patterns that offset beautifully the childs face and body tones. Further the bowl and all the contents that the child is attempting to Jackson Pollock around his face and torso is a moment captured in time. Wonderful image Dottie. Once again a lovely tight framing.

I don't know if you used a screen technique or the slow shutter created a slight blurr giving a screen effect. Composition is tight and the flare on the left leaves one with a haunted ghostly image. As usual Dorothy, you leave the viewer with an excellent image, not only in portraiture but more importantly, how the image itself can be different from the norm. Well done.

Your image truly is a visual splendour. Many people looking at this image probably would not see the eery, arching back of a being with cascading water billowing from what could be a hand and illuminated stomache region. Yea okay it may be far fetched but I am trained in Art and work exclusively in PS8 now. This picture has a true feel of a romantic behind the lens.
