Great colour contrast and POV. I would have picked a more evocative title.
Cheers,
Jon

Oh, they're there, alright. I was sitting across the street and had to wait for breaks in traffic to get the shot

Thanks, Andre. It is an entry for a camera club competition with the theme "Song and Artist" so I wanted this title anyway :-]

I was going to add - Saskatchewan is thick with old farmhouses, leftover from the days of the 1/4 section homestead. Farms get bigger, the rural population declines, and the result is ghost towns and abandoned farmsteads. Very sad (and between abandoned cisterns, rotted floors and falling-down barns, a bit dangerous to explore).

Nice place. I prefer the colour over the B&w, but but the sky turned out better in the monochrome shots.

Very pretty. We don't see a whole lot of architecture from you, Andre. These are all nice. I might have moved a bit to the right to get the one headstone out from in front of the doorway. Do you know - was this torn down and rebuilt, or just extensively renovated?
Cheers,
Jon

Very pretty scene, nicely captured. The water takes the eye through the image, and the contrast between the bright, sharp greens of the foreground trees as against the darker, hazier trees on the hillside in the background make it clearly three dimensional. Where is this?
Cheers,
Jeff

This is a stunning shot. I tried cropping the right edge off a bit, just to the white spark dealies, and I think it helps to balance it a bit. Unless you don't WANT it balanced, of course :0]

My thought exactly, although water skiing becomes a bit problematic. The motor is completely silent. My nephew started it at one point and took us in a lazy circle, and my only sense of movement was that the moon started drifting across the sky. It was a bit disorienting for a moment!

Thanks, Andre and everyone else who commented. I have to say that I have never before this shot found ants to be beautiful. Normally, well... I squish 'em. But they really are quite exquisite, aren't they? I still don't want them making a mess of my damned lawn, however....

On the assumption that the mice can speak neither english, french, nor cat-onese, I did them using graphics. Which they appear to be ignoring. I should also like to point out that our cats are very effective at controlling the local songbird population - always a good thing at 4:30 in the morning. Now if they could only do something about the damned crows...

Hi, Anthony - Thanks for you great comments. I think in this case it will be obvious that the horizon line is deliberate, but you never know :-] (and to be honest - I have avoided judging at the local camera club and so probably shouldn't be criticizing those who do!) In any case... thanks again.

Hi, Walkman. Thanks for you great comment. I was on a side road from Saskatoon to the Patience Lake potash mine, paralleling Highway 16 (northish of Sagehill, IIRC - it has been a while since I was out that way). I was in Fredericton last summer and can honestly say that that particular piece of NB is truly stunning.
Cheers,
Jon

Thanks, Rohan. In the newspaper it said there were funnel clouds as well (nascent tornadoes) but alas, not where I was. Or maybe not so alas! I'm not sure how close I'd like to get to a tornado.
