Well, I am that person, the pages are a bit stale because the people that have been given the task to pick the various awards have not been picking them. If there is no new award an award from the past is substituted. That is why an old picture of mine from 2003 is showing up on the front page, it was a purely random selection. If you would like to volunteer to be one of the people to select the awarded photos, please let me know, I am sure that can be arranged.

Al and I have some ideas for new features to be added to the site and as soon as he returns from taking care of family business, I am sure we will get to work on it. We will also be updating the look of the site to make it more fashionable.

Hang in there, keep posting, good things will come.

Andrew, very nice edge treatment. It fits the picture very nicely. Great composition. looks almost like an illustration instead of a photograph. Good work something to hang on the wall.

Is that Laverne or Shirley? Nice picture. I think I would have cropped it off the right and left so that only the lit area was showing in the image.

Very interesting photo. One of the best airplanes ever built. My uncle flew them during WWII over the "China-Burma-India Hump" as a member of the Flying Tigers. I think they were called a C47 back then. I hope that they restore this one, it would be a shame to let it deteriorate any more then it is. Thanks for sharing.

Man, where do I get pom poms like that for my shoes? He is really setting a fashion statemeent!

Neat photo, but like John said, shoot him from the front quarter to get his face in the picture and you have an NG quality shot.

Very nice photo Bernardus she is absolutely beautiful. Did Risa work as a television news reporter in Jakarta for CNN several years ago? Just wondering if this was the same person.

Hi Ed,

Love your stuff. Always great images. I went to your website and looked around at your surf and skim board pictures. Was wondering if you were up on a pier while shooting them or if the beach area was elevated, many of them look like you are shooting down on them. Also what beach were those taken at? You are inspiring me to get the old 300mm out of mothballs and catch some rays.

Very cute however the image is over sharpened. A bit too much on the unsharp mask. Try reloading and turn the site sharpening off. If it was off, try reprocessing the image on your computer with less sharpening.

I had heard of these truck trains down there but had never seen one. That must be a real mother to back up

Is that the longest or do they add even more trailers? Interesting shot, thanks for posting.

Suzanne, absolutely brilliant photograph. I love the vividness of the colors, the sharpness of the textures and the excellent composition. Great entry for this project, it is spot on.

William, thank you for the compliment. However there are no digital effects on this image other then a little brightness correction and cropping. This is exactly how it was in the camera.

Thanks again,

Douglas,

Thank you for the kind words about my image. Unfortunately I have not been able to comment much or respond to comments or forum messages due to my current workload. Some day I hope to actually shoot some pictures again and enjoy myself. I am beginning to, make that I am past not liking computers, but they do pay the bills so I am stuck for a while.

Take care and thanks again,

Ina thank you for the kind words about the "usefilm moderators" image. Yes they are a wild bunch, that is for sure.

The pictures against the back wall are pictures taken by the astronauts while they were rescuing 2 satellites. I was working on the project as part of the mission operations team back then. I actually used to be a aerospace engineer (some call me a rocket scientist, I call me a space cadet) and participated in many of the satellite launches and shuttle missions of the 1980s and 1990s. Those images were given to me by NASA as part of the recovery team. What is neat is that they are actual high quality photographic prints from the film, not just copies printed off on a printing press.

Have fun,

Phil

Pretty neat Ed, I was hearing the thunder up here in Torrance while you were down there shooting. We had a few quick power glitches due to the lighting once the storm moved over land. Glad I wasn't out on the water tonight with that storm coming in. They say there are water spouts too.

Keep dry,

Very original. At first I though it was an oil slick. Did you use gels to make the colors or just angle the lights until it gave them to you or was this all natural outside? Either way a really nice shot.

Thanks for the compliments Phil, they are much appreciated. Those lines you see are actually smoke. The smoke machine went a little nutz and dumped out quite a bit before I could shut it down. Filled up the entire studio and was about a half hour before we could breath.

Have another shoot with a beautiful red head on Sunday, will see how it goes.

Thanks Eric. Good to see you are still around. Hope all is well. Got the D200 a few months ago and love it. Great camera, just waiting for the wireless unit to come and I will be set.

Have been shooting a lot lately. Kelli keeps getting models from modelmayhem and we are having a blast. Check this one out.

Speak to you soon,
