Interesting how much more impact it has compared to the colour image.

I have a hard time believing that you took all these great pictures with the listed camera (Canon Powershot A70).

Very good picture. I would have cropped a bit tighter though.

I think there is way too much sharpening. All kind of digital artifacts.

I think there should be some adjustment in order to bring up some of the detail in the shadows. Otherwise a nice image.

Good picture but I don't like the parquet flooring. It make the image look less exotic.

You have some interesting pictures.

While the other portraits are very good I find this one to be one that I would come back for a second look (and did).

I think it would look better if her hand was not cut off by the edge of the frame. Otherwise a Very Good image.

Although a very minor thing I would clean up the very top of the frame above her left shoulder.

Nice picture but I would have like to seen a little more bottom. To me there seems to be a disconnection between her leg and body. Also I would have tacken out the wall outlet on the left. I is a needless distraction. I love the lighting of this picture. And of course the model looks great.

First I apologize for butchering your photo. As many others have said, great shot. I love it.
Now about what I did to your photo. This is an exaggeration to show that there was more detail in the jpg image, at least in the blacks. Using curves only (I?m sure there are better ways to bring out detail) I increased the contrast in the blacks. This also pushed up the mid tones but I was more interested in showing the detail lost in the blacks. JPG images throws away a lot more information in the blacks. If you want to get the most out of the image then shoot RAW. There is more information and it allow you to do more manipulation before it starts to look bad.
I believe to get what you are looking for is increased local contrast. Not the whole image but tonal areas in the image. The problem we have is that the reproducing media we have can not capture real life. So in order to not loose details in the highlights or the shadows we reduce contrast. Then our picture looks flat.
This is a even bigger problem for reproductions in magazines (compared to lab results on photographic paper). I have not looked into how the graphics arts industry currently work their magic with photoshop. The last time I looked at the issue was over 20 years ago and that was working with film, lithographic, screen solutions to the same problem. Now we should have a lot more control with the tools we have as long as we have the information to play with.

Your question reminds me of some pictures I took with some B&W agfa 25ASA film. The results looked great. I was playing with a halftone screen and some lithographic film to produce a positive. Looked good holding the positive image against a white sheet. I then held it up to the light and saw all the extra detail in the blacks that I didn?t know was there. I didn?t know halftone screens could produce so much detail. The trick though is to not loose it.

I doubt if this has helped much. I?m sure there are those that could give you more practical suggestions.

Very good but the positioning in the frame slightly disturbed me. I cropped it a little to move her eyes off the center line. I like it a little better but I would have cropped less on the left if I could have added more on the right of the original image.

I like your work. Yery beautiful women. Although I like the type of work displayed (isolated closeups) I would like to see more like http://www.usefilm.com/image/816805.html

Oops! I got rid of the black frame. Actually needs it to look proper.

Nice image. Hope to see more of your work with her.
I would like to have seen more of her hand though. Being covered is a little distracting.
I also tried cropping the image a bit tighter. I find it keeps my attention on the beautiful face. Also I burned in a couple of the light spots on her skin below her neck.

I scan the images and click on what I consider striking images. Then I click on the photographer's link to see what the other work is like. So I did the same for the above image then I go to click on the photographer's link and I see that it is ppdix AGAIN! I have been through that catalogue quite a bit now. Good body of work.

Love the image (actually no pun intended), but I think it could be improved. I was distracted by the two cord weights for the blinds. I think the image can even be slightly better if these were removed (or had been removed before the shot). Again excellent.

Good lighting and execution.

I don't think the think the gun matches the shooter. Why would that shooter be using a 1800s percussion black powder rifle? And I don't think the smell is that bad that a gas mask is needed.

Based on the shooter's clothing I would say he should have a modern assault rifle.

I would get rid of the three lights at the dark front side of the cylinder. They are distracting and would not be there if the gun were loaded.
