This is a great capture of a very timid bird. Here in eastern ontario we see them all summer, but I have not been able to get close enough to get a really good photograph. There is a spot close by where they nest, it is a beaver flood and there are a couple of dozen nests at the top of the dead trees in the pond. It is a wonderful sight when they are breeding.
Very nice shot.

I really like the lighting on this flower. The shadows in the flower add a lot to the photograph. Well done.

Great photo. The little bits of colour in the bird really makes this one shine. Those little bits of colour helps us to get through the February blahs. Thanks.

I like the way that you kept the horizon low and let the ambiance from the clouds take centre stage.

this is one of those photographs that you enjoy, until it reminds you that you are going to face this on the way to work tomorrow. I like that the photograph was not taken straight on, I like the angle in the dashboard.
Very well done.

Beautiful shot. The frozen flower reminds us of the battles in nature, no matter how small.
The composition and lighting are right on the money. Very well done.

Nice capture. I like the lines in the wooden structure and the moon/sun. Your horizon is a little off, I'm sure that you sacraficed this to keep the wooden structure straight, but I think that I would have leveled the horizon.
Overall, a very nice photograph.

Perfect title. your eye is drawn to the structure in the water, and then the bird subtly appears to you. Great capture.

In my area the meaning seems to be that you cannot leave without your shoes, so friends would hang your shoes from the wires so that you would stay.
This is wonderful photograph. It probably effects people from different regions in different ways, depending on the meaning behind the custom.
Nice photograph.

Wow, great shot! The subject os so simple, yet so stunning. The sun being so low on the horizon truly allows for that wonderful transition from so bright to the deep blue in the sky. And that tree frames the sun so well. Nice work.

I wouldn't change a thing on this one. I find with snow, the only way to keep detail and have that really white colour is to take pictures on reaally bright days, this is not allways, or even usually, and option in Canada.
I like the crop and the way the tire tracks pull you throught the photograph. Well done.

Very nice capture. It is hard to get a good sense of scale of the size of these locks in a photograph, you have done this pretty well with the building to the side. I also really like the reflections.
I have a photo of these locks in my portfolio, http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1061026. If you are interested here is my gallery from that day, http://www.ashandlisa.com/pages/photo_galleries/jones_falls _winter.htm.
Great capture, the photographs along the locks are endless.
