The black and white absolutely makes this shot. Very moody. Love it!

Mate - Love it, I'm not really into this sort of thing but you have made a first class job of this collage - it is really eye catching.

beautiful widescreen! All the attention is on the most beautiful thing of your picture. A little futurism, i love it. Not 2009 but 4009 ;)

Hi Phil,

For shots like these, I always feel that the whole composition stands on the fact that whether the water is still... so that the reflections are *well* formed. Which, in this case, is there.

The additional thing that my mind always looks for (and I know that it's a cliche) in this kind of composition is a bit of use of the thirds ... which is not there in this one. I understand that you want it to be a centralised composition, and I, for one, am always up for breaking rules, unless it causes a real distraction !!! :)

The only thing I would do differently for sure is that I would have converted this to a mono, maybe with a tone. The reason I say this is because you have something extra in this shot - those layers of trees in different levels of illumination, caused by the fog and the early sunlight. I feel THAT aspect really comes out well in mono, especially if you care to *pump* it up a little using dodge/burn.

I do not believe in UF ratings anymore, but if you ask me to do a sincere rating of this, I would give it a 5/7.

Good, but can be better.

cheers,
Avi

It's a beautiful understated image with the fine mist, from what must be your favourite vantage point.
