Interesting shots Lucas, you should consider one of these badboys http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/ They are great for those spur of the moment shots.

Tanaka-san, You are right, it was handheld. I was not planning on doing any serious photography that night, however, I found myself in that spot and thought I should at least try to get a photo. I was resting the camera against a railing. So, I agree, it could be better. I will try with a Tripod next time, thank you for your comments! Regards Lucas ルーカス

Hand-held? The blurr was intentional? For serious night shots you may need a tripod! YT

The "tallest building in Yokohama"...not in Tokyo! This is not my favourite angle or spot, but the shot is good. I like the bridge with traffic and the reflection in the water. YT

Thank you for your kind comments. To answer your question, those white lines are paths that people take to climb the mountain. You can see the zig-zag patterns from them. Regards, ~Lucas

A beautiful capture, Lucas! You certainly had a great perspective and have shown us how pilots can have a very different perspective of the world around us! Dave.

Yup, great eclipse shot... and the only stroke of luck was for you to be able to be in an area where the potential for an aircraft landing takes place. That is unique for an eclipse shot. well done!

Just a side not, Roger; Hoover Dam was not named for FBI Director J Edgar Hoover...but rather, President Hoover who, I believe, began the project.
Lucas... I don't even recognize where you were at... is this an area (where you were shooting) that is off limits to civilians? Looks almost like you were in the construction area where they are putting in the new by-pass bridge.

Another grand shot of this spectacular place, one of the reasons I moved out here to NM.... I love the strange harshness of the desert. Need to get me a C130 to be able to get these shots though. If you hear of a cheap one for sale, let me know.

That is a spectacular shot! Most photos I see of glaciers appear as nothing more than a snow or ice covering... this view, though, does exhibit perfectly the "flow"... You can't get better than this, an aerial view of glaciers.

Alright Lucas, this is so totally unfair.... you get to shoot aerials of all this kind of stuff while us peons stay on the ground and try to capture an interesting view.
Such a "grand shot"...
and thanks for serving!

As you've put this in Critique's corner I hope you don't mind a bit of honesty...
It's not very sharp (this may not be your fault it could be the camera/lens). It's too busy - it looks like you are trying to capture lot's of things but not really succeeding at any. For example - apart from the runway I really wouldn't know it was an airforce base except for the fact that you told me - or perhaps you were trying to show the mountains. It looks as though it's been over processed - the lower part of the mountains have the appearance you get when over-applying levels adjustment - that mottled effect. This may just be an unfortunate effect from the landscape.
Why did I decide to look at this one? Well I'm a pilot and an aviation nut, but if it weren't for that I wouldn't have spent much time with it.

Thank you very much. If you look at another image of mine: http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=137598 , it is a picture of the airport in Oshkosh,Wisconsin...home of the largest airshow in the world every year. I DID take this picture while flying, but it was safe don't worry... Regards, ~Lucas

Happy to see that when you're the pilot, you're not also taking the photos... I'm always fascinated by aerial shots of airports (or any airport shots, for that matter), though as you say, this place looks somewhat "underused".
