Marc, I like this photo of the woman very much. The pose and the lighting work well (in my opinion) to create an intimate mood with the subject. Well done. I wasn't aware of the PS filters until you mentioned it in your description - and I think that is the mark of skillful use of the filters. Sam

I think that the original shot was better than what I see here. I feel the filters didn't add anything - all the contrary, Marc... My personal view on filters is this:

Either you make sure they are very obvious and make the image look like a painting or such in a very spectacular way. Either you just make sure they don't appear at all for what they are. Here, I feel you went half-way. The original was nice though... Regards.

I don't usually comment on portraits but this one to me is particularaly expressive. It brings to mind all kinds of things she could be thinking about.

I can't say much about the Photoshop effects; I'm unsure what this would look like without them.

Marc - Agreed about the chin on this image. I feel generally it is O.K. to cut the chin with this type of composition when you also cut the forehead however, I think it has to look more deliberate, meaning I should have cut more of the chin and not just the edge because as such it looks careless. The missing eyebrow is not a problem for me at all. Thanks!

Great expression and great details, Marc... I just wouldn't have cropped the eye brow and the chin. Regards.

Excellent work Marc. How close were you? The long lens and shutter speed suggest you had a tough time. I like the detail shown combined with the theatrical lighting. Very effective. Focus was spot on and I would not change this image in any way.

Cheers!
Jeff
