Takes me back to the psychodelic 60's!
I mean no disrespect to the subject matter, but that's what came to mind when I looked at the background.

"Idol" wasn't nearly as much fun after he left, that's for sure. I don't imagine we would have watched it at all if there hadn't been a Tooner still in the running.

I knew him from before he was on CI and he does have a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Nice enough guy though.

good - this is the better of the two, I'd say - more movement, more emotion. I have to say that I thought Josh was a tad pretentious on CI (although with Sass and the Three Halfwits doing the judging pretentious was sort of the order of the day. but I digress.) Still it was nice to see a hometown boy doing well.

Must away...

Nice shot, excellent lighting and great composition! The dark background really lets you focus on his face, in which one can see the emotion in playing!

Nice shot, though i might agree with Ozgun in his commentary. As you chose a horizontal orientation, you also chose two completely different backgrounds: light and dark. I think both can work well in your shot, yet the two of them might make this image a bit busy, and distract the viewer from the actual subject. But you chose a nice DOF i think, to let the right side come out nicely, and give the shot a nice and relaxed singer-songwriter athmosphere. So all in all: Nice one!

Hi Ray, 2.8 is the best for sports. It helps to keep the background out of focus so that the players pop out more. It does take some practice getting the DOF in the right place to keep the players sharp. Remember film is cheap (if you still use it) and CF cards are reusable. Just shoot and then when you think you have shot enough, shoot more.

Great stop action. I'm just learning sports. Do you normally shoot at f/2.8? Does this cause any DOF problems? Obviously it worked great for this fantastic image!
