Thank you, Janina. This is a very unusual "sculpture" for Japan, where public art often reflects the tastes of anonymous committees and tends to be safe and a little boring!

Hi Roger:) Thought I try find you...your images have never left my mind! I get a real sense of being there when I view your pics. I am too surprised its a fish eye that you use, I thought they warped everything:) Your images have inspired me to visit Japan someday! Regards

This subject does indeed work better Roger in this format and we get to enjoy the power of a fisheye far more than where straight lines are involved as you mentioned to Saad. The details are great and the tones are wonderful and so natural looking. It looks quite amazing in the full panorama and I am trying to remember if I saw this one on your own website where of course the full benefit of your photographic style reveals itself. Well done to you my friend. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Unfortunately "shapely" is not a word that comes to mind often in Japan, Ray... "sturdy" would be the kindest. But I keep looking [grin]

Yes, Saad, it means that there are fewer straight lines and thus less obvious distortion than in city streets, for example... Thank you as always for your comments.

I didn't comment on the sculpture as I wasn't too sure what it was Roger. I can now say that it is very impressive my friend. I am sure I have seen samples of your doppleganger images way back in the past Roger and it is awesome to see that effect on your multi exposure compositions. BTW young ladies with SHAPELY bare legs can appear in your shots as many times as they d--n well please ..........Cheers to you my dear friend....Ray

Thanks, Ray. That modern "sculpture" is really something, isn't it! On the full-size image the young lady with the bare legs is actually visible in the distance, too--she walked that much closer while I was doing my thing with the fisheye lens and monopod! We call these double images of people "doppelgangers" (German).

Thanks, Ray. I started taking my shots a little too close to the railings and had to move the camera a bit to take the last shot, which caused endless problems with the stitching! I'm glad you think it was worth it...

The subject is panoramic... over 180 degrees in this shot, but the image is--as all images on screens or paper are--flat! That's why you get lines that look straight to our eyes looking curved on the screen! The distortion is unavoidable, although it can be made less disturbing (I did a bit of that with this image...).

Well, well... you have been visiting photos from long ago! Thanks for your kind comment, Saad. I was enjoying taking candid shots with my mobile phone at this time (four years ago), but now I have an i-Phone of which the camera is not NEARLY as good... This was one of a set of three that I called a "triptych."
