Except for the starting loss of focus on the very very foreground of that rock, Dave, it looks only perfect to me, and I mean perfect in the sense of being one of its own kind. Even the focus seems to be very special here. It does capture so many details and still it also allows some kind of "unsure", or if you like "vague" attitude, which I think is ideal for such a shot of a place that looks so abandoned.

That kind of "vague details" binds up perfectly with the rich but still silent color palette, and here I have to also mention the very good contrast between the red/brown of the plants and the blues of the water. Almost two complementary colors and this always counts much.

The composition idea was great and its tramslation into a real existing image too. I would only go for hyperfocusing here - as hyperfocusing as it can get for getting the same kind of sharpness on the foreground too. I thonk it would be real in an unusual way then.

Anyway, still it is a great work as it is.

What a beautiful pose for you to have captured my dear Dave. This delightful little bird looks just wonderful with it's little head cocked to one side as it considers whether you area threat or not. An excellent quick shot as they never give a second chance. Well done to you my friend. My very best wishes to you as always......ray

hi dave,

lighthouses have something magical in them on photographs. escpecialy when you combine them with a dramatic landscape. ( in this case peggy's cove and the dark clouds ) you've succeeded in this pic in several ways .
the rocks in the front with combined with the green grass. the lines in the rocks beneath the lighthouse , and for all the contrast of the red top versus the grey clouds

excellent

Plenty sharp enough where it should be Dave. The eye and beak are dead on sharp and the whole image looks very natural. Great pose from the little guy too.

Very nicely composed with great colours Dave!
There are a lot of interesting areas in the image without the image giving the impression of being cluttered.
This has got to be one of your best landscapes.
Beautiful!

Unusual, fresh and as vivid as one might expect for an image of wild life, Dave! The details on the head/face of the chickadee are just about marvelous and the most of its rest parts appear in such a good focus too. The DoF did excluede some small parts of your main subject but in such a case it doesnt't matter at all. The way the major part of the bird was captured with all their fine details in front of the softened out background surely conveys clearly the whole atmosphere as the bird experiences it. I think that the plentitude of geen color speaks for that too, as the brilliant timing also does.

Extremely natural, this is how I would call it. Yes, there are some small things about focus here and there that could be done better, but I can't see why they should matter in such a case.
