A great capture Dan as bees are so tricky as they move around after alighting for only a short spell. Beautiful golden yellow tones in the bloom and good details.
I will see you again in the not too distant future when I can grab a little time to myself. Best wishes my friend.....Ray

Another excellent shot my friend with wonderful detailing and such gorgeous tones. The dof is superb and really isolates this bird away from the background. All the very best to you Dan.......Ray

A very lovely wildlife study my dear Dan with excellent details and beautiful natural tones. Love the pose you've captured, a photographer's dream my friend.
I am still on 'holiday' from UF but I did say that I would look in and catch up with my friends. Hope you are keeping well. Best wishes to you as always.....Ray

That sounds great, yes you should learn about RAW then. I left my e-mail at the end of the previous post so if you have any questions just feel free to e-mail me.

Hi Dan, thanks so much for all the information, much appreciated! I am in wellington and dont get to auckland much but I will add you to my favourites (friends?) on here (i am new to this site too!) so that I can keep in contact. I have just started an adult night class in digital photography and we will hopefully discuss RAW then too. I guess the best thing to do is to start using it and learn by practise! Cheers :)

Hi Tracy, yes shooting in RAW makes a huge difference, but adds more time to processing. But you have much more control of exposure, highlights, mid tones that is completely non distructive and has a much better result than doing the same thing on a JPG image. Most importantly white balance which is quite a big problem in the digital world that you don't have in film. Think of RAW like manually developing each of you own negs and photo's. If you are from Auckland or come to Auckland, I would be more than happy to sit down with you to help you with digital processing and show you some workflows etc. If you are not I would be more than happy that you contact me with any questions, danw@vodafone.net.nz

Amazing birds, such a beautiful song too. I've been trying to photograph them myself but no luck so far! Im really new to digital but have a similar lens. Does using RAW make a difference? Have never used it before! :)

Thanks Tracy yes you are not wrong about the colouring, they are certainly so stunning when they are in the sun, almost never see them out like that, I find they are almost always hiding in the darker spots
