Kristine,
Thanks for your comments. I too find it strange what is seen in the alternative process category, and if you care to look I have other cyanotypes posted.
As for your questions. I use the traditional method (A+B). Sometimes I alter the proportion between the two solutions. The final print is about A4 size and the negative is created with C67 Epson printer and a common transparency.
I begin with a digital file and the workflow is quite simple: image balance or, depending on the image, a cyanotype specific curve -> invert -> print. (quite neandertech).
Regards,
Fabio

Fabio,

Firstly, this image is an outstanding example of a cyanotype. The detail and tonal range is amazing. Your creative choice to tone the image only adds to its richness.

Second, I have a few questions, if I may. Did you use the "Ware process" or the traditional "A and B"? What size is the final print and how did you create your enlarged negative? Orthofilm?

Finally, by the way, thank you for actually putting a REAL alternative process in this category.

Love and Peace,

Kristine

Thanks for your comment Aniko.
Some alternative processes (which I rather call historical) have the advantage of being low and hard tech. Cyanotypes, for instance, may be toned with tea or coffee, or any other tanin rich liquid, without loosing its permanence

the intense grains and strong contrast work really well to add to the otherwordly feeling this image has... blank eyes staring at dead legends from centuries ago... well done...

I'm not a photoshop expert, but couldn't you dodge and burn to make it a bit less distracting?

Thank you for your comment. The over-exposed lights, indeed are a bit distracting, but it was a rather long exposition time.

Nice still life, like the shadow & texture from the glass. The conversion to b&w really worked for this shot, the inclusion of the floor in relation to the position of glass towards the edge of the table gives an abstract touch. Well captured & conceived.

It's a swimer. The photo was taken around 7 pm using only the available light ( shutter speed of 1s). If viewed in a large format you'll figure it out.
