| About |
This is the equivalent of a 3" (75 mm) wide crop from a 40" (1 m) print. A straight scan, with no sharpening, no noise reduction.
Viewed on my screen at full resolution it is equivalent to a crop from a 120" wide print (3 m).
It was taken hand-held, so there will be some loss of definition below the ultimate possible. The Nikkor 20 mm f/4, though a good lens, is not the greatest either. The entire picture is 'Bhagirathi Parbat from Gangotri glacier'.

Thanks very much for the kind comment!
I should have explained that it is only here as an example of an extreme enlargement from 35 mm film.

Dear Helen
I have been trying to track you down after seeing your Hoppings Fair 1973 pictures on the Net, left in circa 2002.
I am a local history author from Houghton-le-Spring, Co Durham, England, but residing in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. My first book was about Houghton Feast, an ancient festival, fairground and ox roasting in Houghton. These past three years I have been compiling a book on Newcastle's Town Moor Hoppings. I'd like to use three of your 1973 photos and should be very grateful if I could have permission to do so. Would you be able to email me copies if possible?
Also, do you have any memories of the Hoppings which you would like to share? Many thanks for any help you can provide. Paul Lanagan booksofthenorth@btopenworld.com www.houghtonfeast.co.uk > Projects > Hoppings
