About Great Falls National Park. I have not posted this because I submitted it to a contest the park was running. I did not win, but now you can enjoy it.

It's an infra red shot, composited using HDR across three separate exposures. Converted to B+W.

Exposure: three minutes.

A really fine photo!! Not so much of a critique here, just applause. Marvelous B/W tone.

Paul Stockley   {K:1028} 6/27/2007
A really fantastic photo here. You should have won a prize for this. The tones, shadows and long exposure effect are wonderful. It looks like the rocks are breaking through the clouds.
Well done,
paul.

No matter. this has not won a prize. I believe, it has everything worth winning an award. Solid velvetty effect due to the IR use, strong composition, excellent light and the long exposure. All work so well.
Continue good work.

Very nice....great!! love the long exposure.....
I have recently printed some night shots in contact in photopolymer gravure and they look infared! I have one or two posted on my page here at usefilm.

Definately like the long exposure....nighttime, or late dusk? Need dark for one minute exposure. (sky)

Hey there Gary -

This was bright sunlight - but due to the nature of IR on a digital SLR this exposure was three minutes. The dark sky comes from the IR filter.

One of the best IR images I've seen here. A 3 minute exposure?? This must have been a total night shot. Excellent stuff. So when these parks run these contests, do they publish the award winning photos? Hard to believe there's one better than this to portray the park.

Ah, now I read the comments. And see this was daylight. I have a tendency not to read the comments until after I comment so as to not influence what I want to say. Unless I am at a loss and looking for some type of explanation from the photographer.
