| About |
Guernsey's weather conditions are often very frustrating for the landscape photographer. All day the sky had been dramatic with regular big heavy cumulus wafting by, separated by clear blue sky. A couple of hours before sunset they thickened into an almost unbroken layer of strato-cumulus (not so good). The location I'd planned wasn't going to work with the lack of drama so I had to head elsewhere. With little time, I chose L'Eree headland and searched out a composition around its unnamed beach. The tide was high but receding very quickly and it took me a very long time to search-out and anticipate a strong composition emerging from the sea. A long exposure again smoothed out the slightly-choppy water and simplified the image as intended. The clouds didn't break in time for any real dramatic light-show but there were enough pastel shades to produce a pleasing image. There was no relaxation in getting this, or most of my photographs; ever-changing conditions and tides mean you have to think fast and work hard!
