This is some of the very old architecture on top of the equally old wall running parallel to the Han River. This type of architecture is fast disappearing in China today, but Chaozhou still has an abundance of it.
To the right of this photo is the river, to the left is the old part of the city. You can see one more tower behind this one and behind that, you can see the top of the new bridge crossing the Han River.

Hi Alison, Chaozhou is a very old city, first established about 1700 years ago. The wall may have gone around the entire city at one point in time, but all thats left now is a section along the river that's a few kilometres long.
It's still in very good condition (obviously restored) though. I'll upload another photo showing part of the wall as well.
