I wonder what the word means other than the name of the place!
in pure Arabic we call and pronounce Verdaous for the Paradise, and the word Paradise itself is of an Arabic origin ,could it be this Varredes is of the same origin, the pronunciation is so very close,
thank you for showing this beautiful shot,
Saad.

I do not know if Varreddes is paradise ... But your idea is interesting. Although I do not too tracks how a village of northern France can bear the name of Arab origin? But I want to know more, it's fascinating.

Pour ceux que cela intéresse voici l'origine du nom de ce village :
Varreddes viendrait de varenne au sens de "chasse gardée" d'origine probablement germanique.
Ou de Vara (eau en prélatin). On est loin du paradis, hélas !

Information tirée du livre de Marianne Mulon "Le noms des lieux d'Ile de France" aux éditions Christine Bonneton.

thank you Loic,
the near by country Spain uses a 1800 Arabic words in their vocabulary, and you know why,the Arab are being there for 800 year.
I asked only if its name could be originated from Paradise, the two words are very close.
but it seems not as you stated from the French reply,
thank you for replaying,
Saad.
