Kills more people than BOMBS!!! Not very good resolution, probably due to slow speed and wide open aperture. Choose another subject!

Hi José, I find the two reactions by Pierre and Chris way too negative and not very helpful. Even stronger, they forget what photography is about. They might not like the subject (which is their good right), but everybody is free to express what they like (within limits of decency, of course). Pierre has a point, though. It's not a fashion shot...
The grain and slight unsharpness are not all disturbing. They do add to the atmosphere of this image. The moodiness in this shot is strong too. Simple, but effective.
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Hugo, I actually think it DOES have a fashionable undertone. As fashion is often used to differentiate from the masses and make a statement against the general ideas in society, smoking is just an other way of being against everything. An accessory.
As for the photo, it's rather grainy and somewhat low on contrast. But it has a certain mood and I don't dislike it.

Again, Gerhard does have a point, too. Fasionable, yes, but that's a dated view, and not quite what's intended with the photo category. Not a very important issue, IMO, and I do like this shot... )
Cheers,
Hugo
