  Q. Interaction with others on usefilm.com
Asked by xxxx xxxx   Donor  (K=-231) on 5/5/2008
I'm new to usefilm.com and was asked a question by a commenter. I know that I am showing my ignorance here but how do I go about answering questions? I guess in other words is there a way to directly communicate with other members? If so how? Or do I just comment on my own image?

thanks,
louisp

If you look in the space that the person commented in, you will see a link to "reply to (commenter's name)". You hit that and then type your reply. That way, the commenter will receive your reply via e mail as well as it being posted under his/her comment.

If you simply reply using the text box, the commenter will probably never know they received a reply from you unless they just so happen to revisit the photo page and see your reply.

If it is a reply that pertains to your photo, I would put it in the comments on your photo. But to be sure that the person reads it, it would be courteous to have a look at his/her work, and maybe comment on something he/she did, as well. I find some peoples' habit of replying to every single response in your own photo comments to be transparently self serving.

This is a give and take community, and so you build solid friendships by putting effort into the work of others. I would try to steer clear of the vapid 'great shot' type of comment, however.

Dave
