  Q. Who is Arnold Newman?
Asked by Kambiz K   Donor  (K=37420) on 6/9/2006
Today I received an email from my dear friend, Ms Gayle Hardman about 'new UF project...' .
She mentioned about Arnold Newman?
I searched about that person in UF, but I could NOT find any traces of him.
So
I wonder who is Arnold Newman?
Do you know him?
I would appreciate your help in that respect.

Kambiz, the front page shows the new project,"Tribute to Arnold Newman"
You can google his name to see his many photos...the challenge is to shoot a portrait in the same style as his
good luck!

Never heard of the guy. Then tried googling him on my old slow dialup, all I get is news sites telling of his death or book sites trying to sell me something.

Here is an excellent site with 3 different galleries.

To be honest, I had not heard of him either, but when I looked him up I really like his style of photography. I can't wait to get my hands on a camera and see what I can come up with!

Thankyou Melanie, that's a good site for an overview of the style of work. Have to admit, not exactly my cup of tea.

To some people the easy access to buy a camera today and easy access to process their images and post them on a photographic site, this and that made many of them beleived to be experts and forgot all about the real Masters, this is due to the luck of photographic educattion.

People used to read a lot of books and familiarize them self in this filed rather than just hold a cheap camera, and snap an image.

Many great photographers around us, some still living till date with us, and some already left great treasures of photographic work for us to learn from, and they left this world to another.

Please, spare a little time to search the webs for those who made great contributions to the Art of photography and let’s give those people the respect they deserve.

I will add a person here:

Julia Margaret Cameron ( 1815- 1879 )

At the age of 48 years old she started to know what photography is, and ended to be one of the world famous photographers.

Search the net and learn from the best.

If my English is not within the thread quality, I am so sorry in advance.
