Im really stuck with which way I should go with my next lens purchase. At the moment after buying and selling many lens over the years Im left with.
Canon 50mm MK II 1.8 Canon 24-70 F2.8 L Kenco 2 * TC
My main passions are landscapes and portraits. I have been considering getting a longer zoom and another wider angle lens as I still shoot both digital and film. Its also nice to have a backup camera at all times :)
I'm still undecided as to go prime or zoom.
If I go prime I will go with the following:
Sigma 20mm F1.8 EX DG £248 105mm F2.8 EX DG Macro £279 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro DG £160
I've included the pretty inexpensive 70-300 sigma lens as for the money it does seem it can't be beaten. This would now give me a lens setup of:
Sigma 20mm F1.8 EX DG Canon 24-70 F2.8 L Canon 50mm MK II 1.8 105mm F2.8 EX DG Macro Sigma70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro DG
Total price of £700
The other option is to go zoom and have the versatility of zooms. I am currently considering the following:
Wide angle Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM £320 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC Macro £239 (some macro facility) 12-24 AT-X AF Pro DX £359
On the telephoto range it would be either: Tokina ATX 80-400mm II £359 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG APO £429
My lens line up would look something like:
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM Canon 24-70 F2.8 L Canon 50mm MK II 1.8 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG APO
I quite like the idea of the 17-70 sigma even though its very similar in range to my 24-70 F2.8 L. But having owned in the past the 85mm 1.8, I know how good primes can be. I got rid of the 85mm as soon as I bought my 24-70 F2.8 L.
So any help and advice would be very much appreciated.
