  Q. Looking for a good designer
Asked by Daniel Guerin    (K=7961) on 10/23/2005
Hi,
I currently have a website which I've built myself (www.danielguerin.com) and am fairly happy with. However, I do not claim to be an expert and it only happened through lots of trial and error and wasted time. Asked to produce it again, I wouldn't have a clue! As the site is a big 'mash-together', I find it very time-consuming to update and add photos. I am wanting to move toward offering prints with perhaps paypal payment and possibly other features.

So, I've decided to look into finding a profesional website designer who can produce a custom site, to my criteria, which is easily updateable, simple but stylish and including all the functions I want. I've Googled some phrases but not found anything that catches my eye. The ones I have liked all seem to produce generic sites which all look the same.

Can anyone please recomend a designer who doesn't cost the earth but has the ability to work with me to produce an original and eye-catching site?

Thanks for reading.

Daniel,

I would strongly recommend "Amazing Internet". They specialize in that sort of thing and their pricing isn't bad at all.

Your best bet might be to look into someplace like BluDomain (www.bludomain.com). They have pre-designed flash templates that come complete with an admin backend for uploading photos and managing the overall look of the site. For the money, about $800, it's a really good deal. I bought one for my wedding and portrait site (www.slavinphotography.com) and am really happy with the outcome.

Heh.
Thanks for your replies guys. I did look at the likes of Amazing Internet but they seemed to be the same as all the others in that they have a set style and sell it with a few changes to everyone and call it original.

I'm looking at templates now actually and think I've found a few that really suit me.

Thanks again.

Daniel,

I have used a guy in CA named trace mikulec
http://mikulec.com/
This guy has some mad web skills. He has built data bases and interactive forms with pass word pages. easy to work with and is very creative. Oddly enough, I don't care for his new home page but , his work is fantastic.

Daniel,

I know a designer who is heavy into photography and spent the last year at college who could probably give you what you want at a reasonable price. Check him out at: www.dennisflood.com
