Q. Canon 100mm EF macro..... OR..... 60mm EF-S macro

Which do ppl prefer as i am currently trying to choose between them.

Hi, Nathan!
just my two cents...
i don't know almost nothing about the 60mm, because of the EF-S mount
if i well remember, this mount don't fit on my cameras (10D, 1V, eos 3)and there's a risk for the mirror (am i wrong?)
but i'm a fully satisfied owner of an ef 100mm 2.8 usm since a couple of years...
i use this lens for almost all my macros in my portfolio,
take a look, maybe it could be helpful for your choice;)
IMHO, it's a very good lens: fast, clear and very detailed.
right on these days, my birthday it's approaching, and i'm seriously thinking to buy a set of extension tubes from Kenko, to increase the magnification
Consider also the MP-E 65 2.8 macro,the price, it's almost double of the 100mm, but it's a killer lens, pretty difficult to manage with the focus, but worth a look!

I also love my 100mm macro. I use it a lot, plus from time to time I use an extension tube to boost it a bit. I know nothing about the other lens.

For future proofing Nathan I would definitely go with the Canon 100mm, the extra reach will come in handy for that elusive butterfly that you just cannot get too close to :-)

I would also consider the alternatives from Sigma and Tamron.

I have the Tamron 180mm F3.5 and in a recent review by Amateur Photographer it topped the Sigma and even the Canon offerings in regard to image quality !

If I were you I go for 100mm EF macro without any hesitation.

The only thing the 100 macro lacks is an L designation.
