Minolta make some quite good cameras. Keep in mind that the range of addons and lenses for them is a lot smaller than for Canon and Nikon which are now the main brands and that Minolta is not as advanced in technology as the majors (they used to be, but have been left behind in recent years).

All said and done, Minolta is still a good name and a Minolta should last you a long time.

I have used a Minolta 700si for sometime. It is simple to use, simply by setting to P. It can also be used in advanced modes. Minolta lenses are excellent. The 700si is bordering on professional level, but it can be used by anyone inexperienced with SLR cameras.

I STILL have that beautiful body of Minolta Dynax 700SI. It is great camera. Also have the Minolta Dynax 7 which is great.
Most of my early images in this site and all of my images in www.nfolio.net site are done with that Minolta 700si.
I recommend you to buy. It is much better those rubbish digital ones.
