Yes John I had to do some croping. Not much I got in real close then an American Kestrel and his mate began to dive bomb him and he left!

Me encanta...
Gracias Macho por tantas hermosuras.
Te mando un abrazo grande
Diego

Looks like some kind of hawk Daniel, whatever he is you've captured him beautifully! Wonderful detail, very well done!! Darlene

Yamil Saenz   {K:12373} 12/2/2005
Daniel, this one looks a lot like a Zone-tailed Hawk (Buteo albonotatus). However he/she resembles the Common Black- Hawk (Buteogallus anthracinus). Both species live in your area.
That's as far I can guess.
Please take a look at this shot.
This one is the Common Black- Hawk:

Let me know if you ever find out his/her identity.
Take care.

Fantastic capture, very majestic looking bird! Love the eye reflection, feather definitionj, and pose. Very impressive, Daniel! I know it's a hawk, but there are so many kinds! You're doing marvellous at these wildlife shots!

Puripaso One   {K:13956} 12/2/2005
Hi Yamil,
I think I might of figured it out....HARRIS' HAWK (Parabuteo unicinctus). Widely found from the US Mexico border to Chile. Well that?s my guess!!!

Puripaso One   {K:13956} 12/2/2005
Ina, I belive it to be a,
HARRIS' HAWK (Parabuteo unicinctus). Widely found from the US Mexico border to Chile.

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 12/2/2005
Daniel, you're doing wonders with the Rebel, given that you don't have spot focus, great results!

Puripaso One   {K:13956} 12/2/2005
What's "spot focus"? and how do I get some!

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 12/2/2005
You're making fun of me :)

Puripaso One   {K:13956} 12/2/2005
To be honest.... What is it? From what you have mentioned I don't have it. And I would never, well almost never (Jajajaja) make fun of you!

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 12/2/2005
The camera meters on a very very small area (2% or so) of the image, on a dot, as opposed to 9% or so which is what our Canons have for single point. You can focalize on the eye of a bird, and be sure you get the exposure for that spot, as opposed to an average for a larger area, with many colors, lighting, etc. Maybe it's called spot metering, but in any case, it's more precise for wildlife and macros, which you do a lot. Nikon D70 has is, Canon doesn't as far as I know, not even 20D. All the Point & shoot digicams have it!

No sé lo que es, pero la foto es impresionante. Perfecto el ángulo del a toma y la mirada del..."lo que sea"...
Un saludo.
