This takes me right back to the first time I saw one of these and the memory of being stunned because they are so immediately accessible to the viewer. And, as I tried to think out "why" I decided it's because they fit exactly Ezra Pound's description [in regards to the Imagist Movement in poetry] of an image as an intellectual and emotional complex in an instant of time ............ which I took as implying an equal balance between reason/reality and emotion/feeling in the same instant in time.

And because this was my goal in making pictures too my second memory was of being a bit envious that you had acheived it in such an elegantly simple way. And by simple I mean using the reductive qualities of reflections to remove superficialities that distract the mind and give the "reality" side of the equation too much weight. In these images the connection to reality is well balanced with the whimsical feeling, and that's what I think makes them so powerful and magical.
