Looking great, David, like the space around him! Sharp focus, too, for 1.4, wow!

Splendid moment captured here, David. Interesting pose and the background suits well with him. Nice tone, as always. Good work!

How in the world do you get both eyes in focus at 1.4? Beautiful shot and I like how you included his environment around him.

Awsome. I love that shallow depth of feild. So is it zoom lense, or just 30mm?

its a fixed lens, 30mm. It just gives me a little more room for the framing. The 50 mm is nice , but often its tight when I shoot indoor.

thanks Lynne, yes it is hard to focus right at f/1.4. Very little movement of the head is enough and the shot is out of focus. I get a lot of those, thats the risk of shooting with so little depth of field. I just love the look so its a sacrifice I'm willing to take.

thanks Klifton, those kind of shots is what I was not able to get with the 50 indoors. I was a little concerned if 30 might not be wide enough but now that I have it I think its just perfect.

It's a perfect length...i wonder if any wider it would start to look distorted. I have a 28mm and it can look pretty fish-eye in some shots.

One thing I noticed when I started useing this lens is that I automatically moved closer to my subject to fill the frame. I'm so much used to my 50 that the 30 feels too wide at first. :) The distortion comes in when you get too close. Trying head shots with 30 or 28 mm is not a good idea unless you use the distorion on purpose of course. I found 6-7 feet is the closest for the 30 mm lens. If I want to go tighter I use my 50 or 85. I sure would love to have a zoom 30-70 at f/1.4 but since that doesn't exist I have to live with multible lenses.

David, Thanks again for the comment. I posted another shot of a diffent area. With my Medium Format camera.
Sigma makes does make a 24mm - 70mm and a 28mm - 70mm f/2.8 EX DG. they also make a 15mm, 20, 24, 28mm f/1.8 EX DG lenes.
Thats one of the reasons I am waiting on a full frame Digital sensor, The 1.5X factor. i.e 50mm lens on film camera = 75mm lens on digital camera.
