About Recently started messing around with the possibility of merging various images to make one master result. This is the first real example of what I have done. This is made of of 3 shots which were shot vertically then run through DXO Optics Pro and finally stiched in PT Gui. The result is a far wider field of view - to me its almost like stepping up a format. I have a lot to learn still but I am enjoying it.

Seems like a lot of work but results great, Interesting composition formed by V schaped skies and contrasting colors of mountains. Cheers, n.j

Wow time consuming image Shane, and I wouldn't have known if you hadn't have said. I like the V shaped composition and the pattern in the sky is pleasing and compliments the frame if that makes sense. I like the frame too. I have ordered a holga 120fn today, medium format here I come!

good for you Mervo .. a nice entry level product, it'll be 5x4 next!

Looks like fun. I assume you've seen Carsten Ranke's masterful examples of this approach? Done right it really is like moving up to MF and can give you a walk-in feel to images.

Hi Barry - it was in fact Carsten who suggested the software (PTGui) and it works a treat. When shooting you just have to lock the exposure and the WB and try to keep the film plane as close to 90 degrees verticle as possible. I am having a few teething problems though, for one my PC crashes if I try to stich more than 6 images together. If I can get this problem solved then I'll try to take this technique up a gear.

A wonderful work Shane. Now I know how you are spending your long winter nights. Nice work. Don.

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 12/11/2005
Incredible FOV, you know that I love this feeling of vastness and space ! Super wide lens with this technique creates almost supernatural views. It is often hard to anticipate the end result when shooting, but your composition is very good, with a nice lead-in and kind of echo in the sky and land.

Cheers

Carsten

great work Shane, colours and contrast are super, the 3 shot method is the way to go while learning the method, good work.
