About I awoke early this morning, and in checking the weather online, saw the satelllite showed approaching high-level cirrus from the west, which brought the possibility of a nice event.
So, still dark outside, I dressed and went downtown (a 20-minute drive from the northside)....and waited.

The cold, clear and calm was briefly pierced with pinks and golds.

1/8 sec, F 6.3, tripod and remote shutter release since I'd dialed down to my slowest and cleanest setting.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Hi Paul, spectecular composition, and not easy to refrain from centering it, I believe. Very well done.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hello Paul,
now i see you have more landscape pictures :)

This one is not only a very great picture, but also a nice story.
It sounds a little bit as my story on Dunnottar Castle.
We also got up very early and waited in the cold.
We were glad that we got a little bit of color in the sky.
The morning of your picture you got lots of colors :)

Thoughts and Suggestions.....
First, always enjoy the moment :)
Second, something you already did. never leave without a tripod and a remote shutter.
And last of all, something i learned at a workshop. most lense work between f8 and f11 at there best.

I think that you know most of it already ;)

Greetings Chris.

Yeah, those are all rules to live by, Chris.
(not that I always DO...)

Thanks for your comments. Learning is a life-long process.
