great capture.
good man's see.

nice toning; I wish only the surfer was moved more to the left so he was not so central as he is right now

Seems we have both been doing the surfing shots of late! Lovely shot of the surfer looking in anticipation of a good wave. Must say though they don't exactly look all that big!!!

Love the colour -> black and white conversion - very well done with lovely tones throughout.

Alastair,
The waves were quite sad that day; then again the waves are never really all that big on this coast. I have another image of him riding one of the smallest waves I've seen in my life. I'll post that one when I come back from my mini vacation.

Looks like he may have to wait a while. Nice moody atmosphere. I think Lukasz has a point about the position of the surfer in the image.

Beautifull postwork, the tones are wonderfull.

Hi Laurie,

I like the toning here - it's quite unusual for a surfer theme, but this takes the image out of the normal. Maybe an even stronger panoramic view would increase the view here. Mild concern goes out to the banding in the sky.

best wishes,
Thilo

I love the capture, the composition, and the use of B&W, Laurie. It's a super photo. Having just come back from Hawaii and some winter surf, the waves at Canaveral do look a bit wimpy.
I'm not crazy about the framing; I think it detracts from the picture, and the photo is too good for that. My personal preference would be to eliminate from the white line up on the top and from the white line down on the bottom. (At first I thought the top white line was a scratch.)
Steve.
