About This manmade pond is co-owned by my brother and sister. It is the site of many a summer picnic. I really liked the reflections in the ice.

Great place and wonderful picture, Kathy! Love the tree reflections and B & W tones! It looks so peaceful and relaxing! Is this where your nieces were fishing? Very lovely composition! It must look great there with snow, too. Best regards, Ina

Hi Kathy!
Nice to be back :)
You are very lucky to have access to this beautiful place...I can imagine the summer picnics taking place! Does it freeze enough for ice skating? That would be some fun pictures, too.
Happy Holidays!

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 12/17/2005
Thanks, Ina! Yes...this is where Susie gets her fishing shots. It is a really beautiful place and Susie gets sooooo much credit for keeping it that way.

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 12/17/2005
Hi Janet...yes, it sure is nice to be back! I can't believe how much I missed everyone!
I don't know if this ever freezes enough for ice skating. Our weather doesn't usually stay cold that long. That would make for some great shots, though!
Blessings to you and yours!
Kathy

Hi Kathy! Is the water frozen? Wow, never in my life I've seen a frozen lake. Can you walk on it?

Anyway, it's nice to see it in b&w.

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 12/18/2005
Hi Mahamed,
Yes the water is frozen. The ice isn't thick enough to walk on yet. If our weather stays as cold as it has been we probably could in another week or so, but it is supposed to warm up this week. This isn't a lake, but just a very small pond that my brother dug many years ago.
I'm glad that you like the shot! Take care!
Kathy

(I'll try again...last time it kicked me off) Very pretty Sissy. I wouldn't have thought to convert to b/w...it works well. Leave it to you! Can't wait to see what you come up with from your outing today!

hi and thanks for com on my fog lake shot...you should have seen it before i cropped out more dark area...the dark area is tall, dense evergreens that looked darker in the dense fog....

Good choice to go B/W here,Kathy...lovely place with nice tonal range and reflective light...we still have snow in larger patches that never melted and just refreezes at night!
regards, gayle (hope all is going well at the cafe)

Hi Kathy! This is a wonderful scene you have capture great details!
The only problem is the composition tilting and the diagonals are out of alignment.
For me optically is a major flaw ,sorry for been critical.
Cheers!
Harry

It wasn't until I read your comment that I realized what it is about this image that was bothering me. I had to straighten it...and the reflection (duh!) ends up at the wrong angle! Of course that creates a major flaw! I'm so glad that you said that...I may even remove this image. Thank you so much for being honest! It's a great help!

Mark Longo   {K:12757} 12/19/2005
A beautiful composition full of mood. The B&W seems to create a sense that this place is empty and at rest at the moment, but that it is often hosting people at other times. A nice effect. Lovely, Kathy!
