It's a 'snowed over' drainpipe cover... the ones you see (over here in The Netherlands anyway.. ;-D) on the ground in large, paved areas so that rainwater can run off into the sewer. And if your not careful rainwater isn't the only thing that drops down there... keys, money ect.... you get the idea... LOL!!! Hope this clarifies it for you... have a great day (or what's left of it in your part of the world... ;-D)!!!

Very cool indeed Petal! I never thought a drain could be such a good subject. Love the off centred composition of this too. Good detail in the snow and a very natural looking 'colour' too.
So simple but so effective!!! Well spotted, well taken, well done!!!!

Hi Petal...still keeping an eye on my friends' work. This and the two before are new to me and all are good. This one is EXTRA good. I love it for it's simplicity....the colours are gorgeous LOL:-D... in case I don't 'see' you again before....................

Hey P.J.,
I'm very sorry to see you go... :-(!!! Not just because you take the trouble to make comments to my shots... and for that matter good ones, you point out things that could be better and I must say it's great to have someone that knows what he's talking about pointing out the 'weak spots'.... But also because I learned a lot from your pics as well... (BTW just went to your page and it's totally empty.... boy when you do something you really do it thoroughly... !!!).
But I can 'see' where you're comming from... esp. being a donor there should be mutual respect and at least some kind of explanation why somethings are changing or deleted (instead of deleting an answer would be better...). Hope to see your shots somewhere... going to 'google' and who knows what I find there... ;-D!!! Keep on making wonderful photos Herr Nachbahr... and thanks for including me in your farewell!!!

Hi Petal,
oh wow, this is the good stuff! I love that simplicity here and especially the off-centering of the subject. I'm thinking about adding a foot step on the upper right... this would be a totally different image though. Just an idea, as always =)
