Hi Ian,
Thanks for the comment and for visiting my portfolio.
You can't beat the old Tri-x film for great contrast.

-Rosario-
merry XMAS and happy new year, to you and your family

Andre Denis   {K:61621} 12/21/2005
Thanks Rosario,
Maybe in the next few days I will try and post some images more in the Christmas or Holiday spirit :)
You and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year too!

I like this Andre, I like the lead in with the cars and especially the man sitting on the roof, gives you such a sense of atmosphere, people getting anywhere for a good view! I still see that shape of Porshe on the streets of the UK, good journalism shot!

I hope that you are well, and that we may be more successful with our comments and image uploads from now on (I have deliberately held off from comments and such). It seems that things are nearly there, and the admins/staff have done a good job at keeping their cool!

Looking forward to seeing more of your images over the festive season and into the new year. I have my holga, and a new lensbaby2 to play with - both are taking some getting used to!

Seasons Greetings Andre!

Hi Mervo,
Thanks for the comment. This 911 concept has been around since about 1965-66 and is still going strong. It has to be one of the most successful sports cars in history. On and off the track. I liked the look of the lone fan on the roof of the van too. There is always a very relaxed atmosphere at the club races.
Things do seem to be settling down a bit now. So I'm looking forward to seeing some results from your new "toys".

Hi Andre,

good rescan IMHO! the classic toning and the bold outcome make the image. nice work!

best wishes,
Thilo

Andre Denis   {K:61621} 12/25/2005
Thanks Thilo,
I like the look of the grain with the toning in this one. I think a lot of that look comes straight from the developing of the negatives 35 years ago. I remember getting that look on some of the prints I did back then from this series. I have a really nice 8x10 of the photo that I call "If Hobbits Drove Cars". That photo is from the same roll of film as this one, the MG and the Jaguar xk120.

Goebbels and who I wonder. No Beemers back then? I don't recall. Looks like a lot of fun and I see the enthusiasm on both sides of the lens.

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 12/26/2005
...and I think because of the subject matter and energy, this would be a perfect photograph to colorize.

Andre Denis   {K:61621} 12/26/2005
Hi Mark,
The driver of the first Porsche #9 was a guy named Horst Kroll. He also competed in the main event at this meet (open wheeled Formula A/5000 cars) Horst went on to compete in the Can-Am Sports racing car series through the 80's and actually won the series in the last year it was run. 1986. I was at the race at Mosport where his team mate (17 year old Paul Tracey) beat him. You might recognize Tracey from CART racing fame.
Anyway Mr Kroll now runs a little VW/Porsche repair shop only a few minutes from where I live.

There would have been BMW 1600's and 2002's around that time.

Hi again Mark,
I've never tried colourizing a race car shot, but it sounds like a something I would like to try.
I did a few on another subject that I thought turned out well. "Photographer's Apprentice" series of my younger brother.

These are my favorite sports cars, btw. Thought I'd add this (attachment) to the parade!

Hi Mark,
Porsche just keeps on pumping them out like candy, don't they?

Nice little Boxter!... perfectly suited for your weather down there :) Is it yours?

Mark,
Well, if its the RUF Turbo you want, or the GT3 racer, this will get your heart pumping a little faster!!!
