Super! I love the dark walls framing the narrow defile. Terrific composition, palette, clarity.

Lovely! This reminds me of an Ansel Adams shot. It has a great vanishing point and reflection.

Hi Mike, definitely not an easy shot... It's bound to have a huge contrast, but I think you handled it very well. (rather difficult to assess under the lighting conditions here...:( ) I like the vague details in the canyon wals, as well as the warmth radiating from the sunlit parts. A small nitpicky point is that I find the composition a tad static, but I don't think there's a solution to prevent that. Well captured.
Cheers,
Hugo

Oh looks like this would have been very tough to expose well. You've done it just fine, but the sky bugs me. I think I would have taken several and layered them, so the interior details could be seen better, and possibly present the true blue the sky was.

Thanks - days later I saw an exhibit of Ansel's prints and it is affecting my PS processing and choice of UF photos to post...

You are correct, but I did not carry my tripod, so I was unable to shoot multiples for the PS post processing. Very sad. I may get into the photo and mask to darken the sky with levels.

Hi Mike,
This one looks much better on my screen at home... The contrast and details in the walls of the canyon is more than nice. Very strong shot. Funny how big the influence of lighting conditions and monitor quality actually is!
Cheers,
Hugo

Hugo -
No, good comments, but in case you did not know this, I have a calibration image - uncategorized. You can use it to calibrate your monitor while using UF!

Nice shot! I didn't know you were planning on visiting my stomping grounds! We almost went to Big Bend again over the holidays, but headed to Nevada instead! Where did you stay?
