Very nice textures and patterns; I like your choice of black and white.

Beautiful sepia and good good tone, nice world of J.A.Rimbaud dear John, very thanks on my pic with nice poem.

Carsten Nor   {K:794} 1/4/2006
Nice shot and colors. But I think it is a little to dark at the left side of the trees and it looks fuzzy on both side of the edged.

But a nice shot it is :-D

Un fantastico landscape, perfettamente bilanciato, composto e contrastato!
Sembra di essere lì...

Tim Long   {K:9225} 1/4/2006
Great texture and tone, of course, and your strong compositional sense saves it from being overwhelmingly detailed. The convergence of clouds over the distant peak and the curve of the track through the grass really pull this together. I'd have been tempted to crop from the left, maybe into a square to strengthen the focus onto the principle elements, but I do like the sense of vastness that you composition provides. Intriguing as always, John. Well done.
Tim

very nice!

this is an absolutly stunning image John!

John Lamb   {K:9687} 1/4/2006
Thanks Tim. Thats the problem with small jpegs on a computer screen. They just do not convey the sense of scale achievable in a large print well matted and framed. I've just printed this at A3+ on the 2400 and it works well. Regards John

Tim Long   {K:9225} 1/4/2006
I'm sure you're absolutely right, John. I'd love to see this as you can. I can imagine it, but the compression onto my 17 incher makes it difficult. Thanks for reminding me to look past my monitor!
Tim

Roger Williams   {K:84106} 1/4/2006
Well, one day in the not-too-distant future we will have 24" monitors and be able to see this kind of picture with the proper impact...

Michael Kanemoto   {K:22106} 1/5/2006
John:

Even with a Sony 24" tube this looks small but great - I recently was able to see a breath of Ansel Adam's shots and this reminds me of the crisp contrast and deep blacks. Really nice field work, always want to see you post more.

I don't think this was mentioned, but the trail in the grass provides a nice sweeping element to the mix. Nice dark clouds.

John Lamb   {K:9687} 1/5/2006
Thanks Michael. I too saw an exhibition of Adams's "museum set" just before Christmas. Stunning compositions and beautifully crafted prints. APS sized digtal sensors pail into insignificance but you use the tools you have.

Good to see you have now recovered for the fire. Happy New Year. Regards john

Michael Kanemoto   {K:22106} 1/5/2006
Thanks John -

I just have to reformat a new dual 250 GB firewire drive for my PC and then I should be good to go...

Roger Skinner   {K:75087} 1/6/2006
it actually looks abit pale and wan from my side of the pond but then if we are talking Ansel languages he was a soft printer when he started out and got more and more contrasty with age.. well so it would seem from my copy of Ansel Adams at 100 battery dying blackout raging seeya

greg collins   {K:12182} 1/11/2006
The depth created by the flattness of the field is awesome. Love this image.
