About At a rough guess I reckon this tree had stood on Greenham Common for around a 100 years. There are a lot of trees being felled at the moment, mainly to improve the lot of the remaining trees as the woodlands have been "unmanaged" for many years.

Great details, Neil, although I couldn't quite count all the rings! It always seems to be a shame when an old tree like this has to be removed, even it it's for the greater good of the surroundings.
