About In keeping with my latest winter frozen theme I found this natural ice sculpture, which looks to me to be the likeness of a penguin, frozen on a fence one day at sunset - thus the warm colours. The darkness on the left which I call the piano is actually the top of a fence post. I don't think you have to look too hard to see the penguin. :)

Thanks to all who may drop by to view and comment on my images.

Cheers - Ann :)

A nice sense of humor along with an interesting photo. I agree with the penguin look and a good imagination to suggest it is playing a piano. I enjoy this type of photo. It is the sort I always look for but seldom find. An excellent fun shot. Del.

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 1/10/2006
Wow, Ann! Hard to even imagine how ice could freeze into a pattern like that! You'd have to be blind to not see the penquin in there! And the piano is pretty clear also! :) I'm glad that you took the time to get this on film!
Kathy

Very clever angle, Ann. Nice lightplay through the ice, too.

Paul Lara   {K:80165} 1/10/2006
LOL!
I commented, read your About, and THEN realized this was not a man-made sculpture. How funny. Your title so perfectly led me into this, I never questioned it.

COOOL!

Great score Ann! Incredible ice formation and wonderful colour and light play from the sunset. A Pattern In Nature at its best. Well spotted and captured.

Thanks for dropping by my portfolio. Was great to learn that a fellow aussie/wog has had similar life experiences ;) Funny you should ask about Mr L M, he's actually my bestest friend and easily the wackiest man in the world! So yeah, the banter is not at all serious.

Take care and I'll 'see' you soon.
Cheers
Rina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/11/2006
Wow! It does look like a glass penguin with a neck tie; and the fence post like a piano silhouette! What a wonderful image, Ann - full of humor, but also a brilliant observation of your keen eye and your mind and camera! Superb sunset colors coming through the ice, and great clarity and composition! Ina

This is certainly a penquin my sweet Ann and it could pass muster as an upright piano in my book. The way you find these images takes the biscuit:):):) I love the light shining on your image it really lights the whole composition up. Well done to you sweetie...Best wishes..Ray

Andre Denis   {K:56485} 1/15/2006
Hi Ann,
This is an amazing likeness, as anyone who has seen that penguin movie will agree. (March of the Penquins)
A typical photographer... always looking for something :)
Someone said one of the attributes of a good photographer is "being able to see what ISN'T there"
I suppose this fits into that catagory in one sense anyway :)
Andre

Janet B   {K:16139} 1/28/2006
AWESOME, Ann! I skimmed past this image before and never read the 'about' just going after the more powerful posts you have with all the color & water....
so I just now read this......and WOW!!! You know what people pay for stuff like this on ebay??!!! Well, neither do I, but I bet it is a LOT!!! So...I hope you have cut off the whole fence part, put this in your freezer and have listed it on ebay....you could make a fortune!

What?? The Virgin Mary or Jesus ~ not a penguin???....oh, nevermind !! Better luck next time :)

Ann Nida   {K:45230} 1/28/2006
Oh Janet you are too funny. :) I saw on the news last night that someone is auctioning off a Super Bowl Hot Dog and the price was up to $7,100 at that time. I wish I'd thought of it but my little penguin has melted now. Thanks for the smiles.

Cheers - Ann :)

Robin Wickenkamp   {K:16434} 1/28/2006
