About Another shot from the very cold dawn. I had forgotten to put my thin gloves in my jacket pocket and so had to use bare hands. By the end of the hour and a half shooting session my fingers were frozen solid. They were very tender for the next couple of days. Anyway, it was a wonderful morning and well worth a bit of chill. For this shot I used a three stop soft ND grad to keep the details in the sky and an 81B warm-up to counter much of the blue in the Velvia 100 in low light conditions.

Barry, this is certinly my favorite of your posts today. I love the blanced, dynamic composition, soft light, pastel hues and just a little texture on the water surface. I hope you get the chance for a big print! Outstanding.

Wonderful light and composition, makes it clear why getting up before dawn is often a good thing (and makes one wonder once more why it's so darn hard to convince people who are not photographers of that fact).

Shame about the small fence or whatever on the far shore, if I weren't dead set against digital manipulation I'd suggest you clone it out but as it is a retouching brush would do wonders ;)

Jeroen, you're right about the enclosure, it too inorganic in this composition but I don't like messing about with my film shots. At this resolution you could easily clone it out but I print these images at 20 inches by 24 inches and you can't easily hide cloning at that size.
