| About |
It took some time to find this composition. I was looking to try and replicate the shape of the distant Langdale Pikes, lit up in the red of the dawn sun, with the foreground and these rocks came to the rescue. The tufts of grass in the frozen lake then lead the eye further towards the Pikes in the distance. The contrast of the red Pikes against the frozen green foreground adds another element to the image that is more obvious when printed than on this small screen image. I used four stops of soft ND grads with the three stop filter aligned above the pikes and the one stop aligned over the pikes and down to the near edge of the lake in order to bring out the dark foreground. I needed an 81B warm-up to balance the colour in the shadows.

Excellent composition with wonderful colours. Aggree with you, I think a lot of the colour tones got lost, e.g. the green. Excellent work with this great camera! Joggie
