About Another pic of Wia-O-Tapu Thermal Valley, this is "The Champagne Pool"
Formed over 700 yrs ago by a hydrothermal eruption.Its surface temperature is 74C,the largest spring in the district being 65m in diameter and 62m deep.The bubbles are due to carbon dioxide, minerals contained in the water are Gold, silver, mercury, sulphur, arsenic, thallium, antimony and are presently depositing in the surrounding sinter ledge.
Very tricky trying to get pics without lots of steam! :O)

Amazing and incredible.
Is it easy to get close to these hot springs?

Tabitha Woods   {K:8606} 1/17/2006
Hi Mohammad, I agree these are amazing volatile landscapes, I felt like I was looking at a different planetary surface, not of earth! :O}
Yes you can get very close and walk all around some of these, some fences and loads of warning signs!.. I wouldnt dream of taking my kids at their age.. I certainly wouldnt be looking through the cam if I did!!
Regards

Its like I'm having an educational tour of your beautiful country with all the beautiful diffrernt places you have shared. From the thumbnail, I thought this was a color alteration done on ps, was i surprise to learn from the info that it is a natural scene. congratulations and thank you for the infos and you beautiful photos.

Dear Bobot thats music to my ears! Thank you as Iv desired for some time to capture the natural and unusual landscape scene here in Nz Thermal Region mainly because since being a Usefilmer Iv captured the spirit of wanting to show the rest of the world some of our beauty. Some may never get the chance to travel or for others perhaps the start of an adventure! :O)
Thanks for sharing!
Regards :O)

I love the balance of color in this. You nailed the feel of the texture. What's amazing is the clarity at 1/2000 at f/5.6. brilliant image!
